Casino Nova Scotia

In 1995 the Halifax and Sydney casinos both opened adding more excitement and entertainment to Nova Scotia! The Halifax casino was first located in the former Sheraton Hotel (now The Marriott Harbourfront) which was a temporary location until a full casino could be built. The Halifax casino moved to its current location in 2000. The Sydney casino opened at its permanent location at 525 George Street in 1995.

Over the first ten years of business, ownership of the Halifax and Sydney casinos changed many times with the purchase and sale of the parent companies that operated the casinos. In 2005, the Halifax and Sydney casinos were sold to the Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (GCGC) whose head office is located in Richmond, BC.

Great Canadian is based out of British Columbia and owns several casinos, racetracks and hotels across Canada and the United States.
