Slots Lingo

Candle (Tower Light):
A light mounted on the top of the slot machine. The color of the light signifies denomination of machine, while specific flashing patterns signify a Jackpot won or service needs.

Jackpot:
When a combination, or accumulation of credits won has to be paid by hand as the game has been locked in Jackpot mode.

Link Progressive:
A bank of machines linked together, contributing to one Progressive Jackpot, such as Silver & Gold, etc.

Table Games Lingo

Ante:
The first wager placed by the player, before the cards are dealt.

Bet:
A wager required for players to play the game.

Cutting Card:
A plastic, solid coloured card that is placed in the deck of cards to act as a marker to determine when a re-shuffle should occur.

Deck:
52 cards consisting of four suits (clubs, diamonds, hearts, and spades), each suit containing 13 cards. The cards from the 2 to the 10, inclusive, have their point value. The Jack, Queen, and King each have a point value of 10. The Ace may have a point value of 1 or 11.

Fold:
To quit playing the game for a given hand, particularly for a losing hand.

Hand:
The cards dealt to each player and/or the dealer.

Push:
When the player's hand is equal to the Dealer's qualifying hand. In this situation, nothing is won or lost.

Round of Play:
One complete cycle of play, during which all wagers have been placed, all cards have been dealt and all remaining wagers have been paid off or collected in accordance with the Rules of Play.

Stub:
The remaining portion of the deck after all cards in the round of play have been dealt or delivered.

Wild Card:
A designated card that may be used as any card to facilitate a poker hand.

Blackjack Lingo

Blackjack:
An ace and any card having a point value of ten, dealt as the initial two cards to a player or a dealer, except if the player has split pairs (see splitting).

Burn, Burn a Card, or Bury:
To remove the next card from the top of the deck, unexposed, and place it in the discard rack. Dealer: The person responsible for dealing the cards at a Blackjack table.

Face Cards:
The Jack, Queen, and King of each suit. They each have a point value of 10.

Hard Total:
The total point count of a hand which contains no aces, or contains aces that are each counted as 1 in value.

Hole Card:
The second card dealt to the dealer after giving each player their second card, prior to giving any hit cards. The hole card is placed face down under the dealer's upcard.

Hit Card:
Any card dealt at the player's request after the initial two have been dealt. Push or Stand-Off: When the dealer's cards are the exact total of the player's cards. Soft Total: The total point count of a hand containing an ace when the ace is counted as 11 in value.

Splitting:
If the first two cards dealt to a player are of equal value, the player may split them into two separate hands by matching their original bet.
