Hope you all had a great Christmas. We had a great time, full of family gatherings, indulgences in food and drink, and a fun New Years Eve in which we performed at the Casino, right under the stairs of the Titanic.
Now that the holidays are over, it’s time to put away the decorations, throw away the tree and embrace the cold, secular month that is January. It is the time for us to make good on our New Year’s Resolutions. Here, at The Brood Industries, we have but one. No, we’re not going to give up gluten, or get a gym membership. This year, we’re going to record our first full-length album. We have converted our Dartmouth household into a full-fledged song factory. Day and night we are toiling, in the sub-zero temperature of our rustic (unfinished) basement. Based on the results of our current songwriting methodology, I’m thinking the record will have ample amounts of adventurous instrumental passages and some catchy sing-along bits. We’ve amassed a wealth of musical pieces and some are strange – we don’t know quite what to think of them. But the only way to find out is to keep on truckin,’ and see where these pieces will lead us. I’m optimistic that our final recording will be an interesting listen.
We recorded 9 demos this week with Charles Austin at Echo Chamber Audio in Halifax. Here’s the evidence. Now it’s back to the song factory where we’ll continue to write and perfect the material for the album. We’ll keep you posted on our progress.
